Logo design and branding are one of the most important parts of your business when it comes to attracting new clients and achieving growth. Your branding is your public face and is how you will be judged in the few seconds that most people take to choose between products and services. Although we are told not to judge a book by it’s cover, we invariably do.
When designing a logo it is important to consider what the business does, it’s customer demographic, colour theory, font choice and a number of other factors. Ever noticed that most fast food logos are based around the red, orange and yellow end of the colour spectrum? These colours have been shown in scientific studies to increase people’s appetite. Font choice is also important in logo design - hand drawn scripts give an informal feel and solid roman serifs imply tradition and security.
It’s not enough just to look good- the logo and branding must be appropriate to the task at hand. Branding is essentially a set of visual rules concerning not just the use of the logo, but also of typefaces, graphic elements, corporate colour pallettes and layouts in order to acheive a consistent, results oriented identity.
